Who is Frank Fischer?
I would call myself an old-school geek. My first computer was a Commodore PET. I developed software for trains and nuclear power plants as well as large scale systems. Together with a friend, I developed a motherboard and ported Linux on it. It had the chance to become today's Arduino, well, if the CPU would still be in production
Today, I sniff around stuff like Node.js, CouchDB, WebAPIs...
What do you do at Deutsche Telekom’s Developer Garden?
My team is responsible for the technology behind Developer Garden. So, we do the architecture, development, roll out, operation, and support of offerings like Telekom Tropo API. Beside this, we have three evangelists (maybe, me as half an evangelist on top) to carry the good news into the world. Well, and is my pleasure to call myself captain of this world-class team.
What does Developer Garden have in store this year at MWC?
I think we have lots to show which is of particular interest for developers. We as...

Tell us a little bit about yourself!
My name is Wai Seto. I work in the Nokia Developer Relations team as technical marketing manager and have been in this role since 2008. Before that, I was a Nokia Technical Expert and Software Architect in the games division.
My name is Janaina Pilomia - more marketing than technical if you compare me to Seto, although I did some programming in my early days. This is my fourth WIPJam @ MWC, and I’m super excited about it!
What do you do at Nokia?
Seto: In my current role, I communicate our latest developer tools and programs to our developers who are interested in working with Nokia. My current technology focus is Mobile Web, HERE JavaScript API, and Series 40 web apps development.
Janaina: I support our local teams in their events and the many other developer outreach activities they do.
What does Nokia have in store this year at MWC?

Tell us a little bit about yourself!
I’m Simon, and I work on Facebook’s mobile APIs and SDKs. I’ve been at Facebook for 2 ½ years so I’ve been there through the launch of timeline and the launch of our tools for iOS and Android developers. When I’m not building stuff, I’m a proper audio geek, and play the drums in a band, The Poor Souls of Pompeii.
What do you do at Facebook?
My team works with mobile developers across the world to build awesome mobile, social apps using Facebook’s platform. We write docs, we make videos, we speak at events and, critically, we write software to help developers be successful with Facebook. This includes both sample apps that thousands of developers use to get started with Facebook, and tools like Facebook’s Graph API Explorer (which I worked on) that make it easy to understand how our platform works.
What does Facebook have in store this year at MWC?
We’ve been hard at work over the last 9 months to totally revamp our SDKs and products for...

With Mobile World Congress right around the corner, there's no doubt that some of you have already thought about joining a hackathon or two during your time there. While coding for the sake of coding can be fun, it's probably even more fun if you win so we reached out to Peter Lindgren, CEO of VISIARC, and recent hackathon winner at last year's Nokia World:
First of all, tell us a little bit about VISIARC.
VISIARC is a mobile cloud company that specializes in mobile documents or more specifically email, attachments and documents. Traditionally, we focus on enterprise and productivity.
You recently took home first prize for your app 'Duudle' at Nokia World's Hackathon. Can you tell us a little bit about Duudle?
Duudle is a multiplayer, turn and skill based game. The game play is original in the sense that it hasn't really been done before, yet its' actually quite straight-forward. You get a word, then you get 30 seconds to 'duudle'. Your duudle is then pushed to all...

Recently at MWC2011 we had one of our classic WIPJam discussion groups. Thanks again to all the discussion leaders and here are a few interesting notes and takeaways from those discussions.

HTML5
-
HTML5 still has a long ways to go in terms of its own evolution and growth
-
2 big positives that HTML5 will offer is the speed of development and it will help solve cross platform problems
-
Currently there is a lot that hinders HTML5, everything from performance to battery life
-
More specifically a few of the issues include Geolocation, SQL storage and there are issues with fragmentation using tools like Modernizr, Has.js, Device Atlas and WURFL.
Cross Platform Development
With so many platforms to address now do you have to provide less functionality to your app to ensure a successful port?
This is one of the major concerns when it comes to developing across platforms, along with the learning curve each platform requires. When it comes down to it there is not...
